ELCA Story

ELCA founder, Ian, has been providing quality and innovative fabrication solutions for the engineering industry for over thirty years, and for the last twenty-four of those years was working with Mercer Stainless.

Ian is humbled to be known as one of the best in the industry, so when Mercer Stainless closed their New Plymouth branch, it was the perfect opportunity for Ian to go out on his own. Named for Ian’s two grandchildren, Ella and Luca, ELCA was founded as a family-owned and operated business.

In his time as a bespoke steel fabricator with Mercer Stainless, Ian secured a trusted client base and acclaimed reputation for his quality workmanship over many decades.

It made sense to now take that reputation and work ethic to open a business that he and his future generations could work together to build, share and pass on. Ian runs the business, while his daughter, Alannah, takes care of the administration – and the children make excellent mini-bosses, keeping everyone on-task when they visit.

  • Marinoto Rest Home needed to put handrails in place in the main entrance to improve the access for residents and visitors. Ian at ELCA stainless was contacted, Ian knew exactly what was wanted and in a few weeks the fabricated stainless handrails were neatly installed. Looks good and a very practical solution.     Got It Made Kitchens

  • We (Excel Taranaki) had ELCA stainless construct a large ventilation discharge nozzle for use at Silver Fern Farms Hawera. The nozzle involved forming two large concentric cones, which were made in sections, these then need to be welded together to form the end shape. The quality of the work was excellent. The finished product, which will be visible to staff on site, looking magic. We are very happy with the workmanship and service we received.
